HistoryBrief history of WorldViewThe WorldView organizations were established by Geshe Michael Roach under the spiritual direction of his root teacher, Sermey Khensur Geshe Lobsang Tarchin until Rinpoche's passing in 2004. "WorldView" is the collective name given to these various organizations. The first WorldView organization was the Asian Classics Input Project (ACIP) which Geshe Michael established in the late 1980s to preserve and input the endangered Buddhist books of Tibet and India. In 1992 he founded the Asian Classics Institute (ACI) in New York City to offer a thorough and authentic presentation of the Tibetan Buddhist practice to Westerners. This led to the creation of the ACI correspondence courses which have been studied by thousands of people across the world, and to the formation of numerous ACI centres and study groups internationally. The Three Jewels community center in the East Village of New York was founded in 1996 as a 'drop-in' dharma center, bookshop and coffee shop. Godstow Retreat Center was established in 1996 with the gift by the Maurice Pate Institute of the former residence of Martha and Maurice Pate (the co-founder of the United Nations Children's Fund - UNICEF), a 100 acre estate in Redding, Connecticut. In 2006 the center came under the spiritual guidance of Gyume Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Jampa who renamed it Do Ngak Kunphen Ling - Tibetan Buddhist Center for Universal Peace (www.dnkldharma.org). It is no longer formally affiliated with WorldView. Diamond Mountain University and Retreat Center was established in 1999 and Geshe Michael led a small group of retreatants into three year retreat at the initially proposed Diamond Mountain property in Arizona from March 2000 - June 2003. Before commencing retreat, Geshe Michael also founded the Enightened Business Institute (EBI) upon the release of his book, "The Diamond Cutter". Since 2003 Geshe Michael has, among other things, created the Yoga Studies Institute (YSI), Star in the East (SIE), and the Spiritual Partners program of teachings. Plans are currently afoot for the establishment of Diamond Mountain University campuses in Asia.
